New Power Plant Reconnaissance Level Cost of Cycling Analysis Method Announced

A new reconnaissance level cost of cycling analysis for power plants is available from Renewable Impacts. Robust, plant specific, annual cost of cycling answers are available at a fraction of the cost of "traditional" cost of cycling analysis.
LITTLETON, Colo. - Feb. 21, 2019 - PRLog -- Renewable Impacts announced today that it has recently completed the development of a quick and inexpensive alternative to "traditional" power plant cost of cycling analysis. The new robust analysis method is called "reconnaissance level" cost of cycling analysis and it opens the door to annual and affordable cost of cycling answers never before available.

Reconnaissance level power plant cost of cycling analysis follows the same cost of cycling methodology previously developed under EPRI contracts and more recently used by NREL. The new reconnaissance method delivers off the shelf reports with a methodology that defines cycling costs according to the type of cycling start or ramp (hot, warm, cold, low ramp, mid ramp, high ramp), cycling cost per start or ramp and the number of starts or ramps for a particular plant.

The major difference between traditional and reconnaissance level cost of cycling analysis is that reconnaissance level analysis does not rely on confidential data but rather relies 100% on public information. This includes public data from Government websites, studies, reports and articles to deliver low, typical and high cost scenario cost of cycling values. By using public data, reconnaissance level costs of cycling estimates can be prepared with a fraction of the effort and cost of traditional studies. A moderate increase in cycling cost uncertainty is expected.

"Our new reconnaissance level cost of cycling analysis is the first true alternative to traditional cost of cycling analysis." said James R. Schetter, President of Renewable Impacts LLC. Mr. Schetter added, "This approach can deliver power plant cost of cycling information in line with traditional studies but at a fraction of the cost and effort. We are now able of offer off the shelf cost of cycling reports and also develop specific reports based on customer requests."
