BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Feb. 21, 2019 - PRLog -- Lightline Pilgrimages has spaces on its eight-night group trip to Israel, departing 30 May.  At the end of the 'holy holiday', there is the option of a four-night extension to discover Jordan to visit Petra, Jerash, Mount Nebo and the Madaba mosaic among other significant sites.

Comments the Rev'd David Gatliffe, who will be leading the group: "We will journey through the land that is special for three of the main religions of the world. It contains powerful reminders of many of the stories with which all of us will have grown up. Whether these stories are fact, myth, or parable, their profound beauty and meaning remain as tantalising and challenging as ever.

"Some of us will be Christian, some perhaps definitely not. Whatever our starting point of belief, I am convinced that we will all be enriched by sharing this journey."

The holiday will commence with three nights at a guest house close to the Sea of Galilee, in the north of the country, where Jesus first 'recruited' some of the fisherman, to help Him to spread 'The word of God'.

Whilst in the region, the group will visit Mount Tabor, Nazareth – where Jesus grew up - the Basilica of the Annunciation, Cana, the site of Jesus' first sign and miracle where he turned water into wine, and sites associated with the call of the first disciples including the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, the teaching of the Sermon on the Mount and the excavations of the ancient fishing village of Capernaum.

There will also be a sailing trip on a modern-day version of the boat used for fishing at the time of Jesus, and a visit to also see the remains of a similar boat which dates back to the early First Century.

Leaving Galilee, the group will head south through the heart of the West Bank to Jerusalem, with stops en route at Nablus and Jacob's Well, and the banks of the River Jordan to the site believed to be close to where Jesus was baptized by John.

Five nights will be spent in Jerusalem, with highlights including the Shepherds' Fields and Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem (and the controversial 'wall of separation'), the Gardens of Gethsemane, walking the stations of the cross, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Dome of the Rock, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Holocaust Museum.

The holiday costs from £1785 pp (two sharing) which includes flights, all transportation, nine nights' half board, sightseeing. entrance fees and a guide.

The four-night Jordan extension costs an additional £755 pp (two sharing), on a half board basis including sightseeing, entrance fees and a guide.

The holiday can also be bought 'land only' (ie without flights), for those who wish to join the group in Israel.
