DALY CITY, Calif. - Jan. 22, 2019 - PRLog -- In line with the World Youth Day (http://worldyouthday.com/) happening in Panama from January 22-27, Pope Francis released a video message (https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2018-11/pope-francis-message-to-young-people-for-world-youth-day.html) addressed to the youth, centering on the theme of service. The Holy Father says, "There are many young people, both believers, and nonbelievers, who when they come to the end of a stage in their studies, feel a desire to do something for those who are suffering. This is a strength in young people, a strength that all of you possess. It is a strength that can change the world. It is a revolution that can overturn the powerful forces at work in our world. It is the 'revolution' of service."

Many of our youth today are finding a strong voice in service as an active expression of their ideals. They are involved in their community, facing issues head-on, working collectively and finding solutions together with the members of the societies they are part of.

This "revolution of service," and the youth's commitment to be involved and become changemakers are at the core of the recently launched Epic Youth Leadership Awards (EYLA) (https://mytfc.com/eyla) under the prestigious and long-running Gawad Geny Lopez Jr. Bayaning Pilipino Awards (https://www.facebook.com/GawadGenyLopez/). The EYLA is a new search by ABS-CBN Corporation, ABS-CBN International and UGAT Foundation, Inc., conducted in the U.S. and Canada, that recognizes and awards a Filipino generation of heroes for the times who are determined to make a difference in the world through their youth-serving efforts that address specific areas of service identified below:

AREAS OF SERVICE:

§  Entrepreneurship/Innovation
§  Environmentalism
§  Mentorship/Education/Literacy
§  Civil Rights/Compassion/Charity
§  Arts/Culture/Heritage Advocacy

The search is open to groups, organizations, clubs, and societies whose membership and leadership are composed of a majority whose ages are 38 years old and below, and where majority of members have Filipino lineage.

$3000 and a trip back to the motherland goes to the top winner; 2nd prize is $2000 and 3rd prize is $1000.
