RONKONKOMA, N.Y. - Jan. 14, 2019 - PRLog -- UltraFlex - manufacturer of the most digitally advanced induction heating solutions - has released photos and results from a recent demonstration that proved, once again, the resource efficiency of induction heaters for a number of manufacturing applications.

In this demo scenario, a 178mm (7") long magnetic steel fastener had to be heated to a target temperature of 760◦C (1400◦F) in less than 10 seconds. The fastener's thread length measured 102mm (4"), at thickness of approximately 6.4mm (0.25").

A compact 5kW Induction Heating solution from the UltraFlex UltraHeat SM series, along with a HS4W Heat Station had been used to supply power of 1.5 kW to 2.0 kW throughout the induction heating process. UltraHeat SM induction heaters are reliable, modular systems, easy to maintain and service and easy to tune to a wide range of loads and coils.

At 2 kW of power supplied to achieve the target temperature of 760◦C (1400◦F), it took as little as 7.5 seconds to successfully heat the full heating length of the steel fastener. With an optimized coil design and smaller required heating length of the fastener, the heating time could be even further improved.

This UltraFlex demonstration proved that induction heating may successfully replace flame-based heating solutions. Due to their energy and time efficiency, induction heating solutions can help reduce manufacturing costs, improve safety, and meet lean manufacturing objectives.
