PUNE, India - Jan. 2, 2019 - PRLog -- A workshop on the topic, "Costume Design & Set Design from the Director's Lens" was conducted by the eminent director, Ms. Rima Amarapurkar at Times & Trends Academy on 18th November 2018, Sunday. This workshop was specially organized by the academy for their Interior Design and Fashion Design students as part of their Reverse Innovation Course.

Ms. Amarapurkar showed her notable films such as short fiction film titled "Raanphool" along with two other documentaries during this workshop. Students were mesmerized by watching these films. After the screening of each film, there was applause. Ms. Amarapurkar talked about the importance of realistic settings for set design in the workshop.

She also discussed the tiny details of the filmmaking process which gave students valuable insights. Ms. Amarapurkar also shared her on-set experiences from film Dhamaal (2007) where she was the only girl on the set and hence was taken care of as well as treated with respect. She emphasized the importance of 'keeping Backups' for property and costumes while sharing some incidences during the shoot of the film Baabul (2006).

Reverse Innovation is the only way to bridge the massive gap in the current Indian Education System. Every year, thousands of students graduate from colleges/institutions with dreams and hope in their eyes for a secure future. But once they leave college, most of them get a reality check; they are in shock over the job reality. Others realize that they truly aren't even ready to face the competition. But if not through the education system, then how else are the students supposed to be prepared. To address this massive gap in the education system and to make students market ready, the pioneer in vocational education, Times & Trends Academy has introduced 10 weeks comprehensive Reverse Innovation Programs in Interior & Fashion Design students.

It's due to such innovative programs guest speakers and industry experts visit the academy. In return, students get to learn a lot by hearing their experiences. Ms. Rima Amarapurkar is also one of the guest speakers who visited Times & Trends academy with a motive to share her wisdom. She has been working hard as a director, for more than 10 years in the film industry. She believes that films need to be made with an aim to tell a story which is important to be told. A message which is important and can be conveyed through the films should be a top priority.

Ms. Amarapurkar, the owner of Samvedana Film Foundation, produces various short films and feature films which are based on a social cause. When asked about the preference between feature film and short films, she said that "The audience nowadays don't prefer to concentrate for more than 5 minutes; hence preference is for short films. Also if a message can be conveyed in a short duration why should we drag the films?" Ms. Amarapurkar has directed short films such as, 'Janani', 'Ranphool', 'Nakusa: The Unwanted' through which she has always tried to convey an important message.

After attending the workshop held on Sunday, Times &Trends Academy's student Ms. Meenal Agrawal said, "I truly loved this workshop. Rima Ma'am shared some truly awesome filmmaking experiences which will help me pursue my career in costume design."

Another student, Shruti Daivadnya said, 'It was a really good experience to listen Rima Amarapurkar Ma'am's perspective on filmmaking and her side of the story to be in the director's shoes. I am Thankful of Times & Trends Academy for giving students like us an opportunity to interact and meet such a hard-working director.
