RONKONKOMA, N.Y. - Dec. 12, 2018 - PRLog -- Replacing an old carbide tip had been the subject of yet another successful demonstration by UltraFlex Power Technologies. Providing the most digitally advanced induction heaters in the industry, the company is regularly doing demonstrations per customer request, aiming at proving the efficiency of induction heating for manufacturing purposes.

In this demo, an old carbide tip had to be removed from a steel work piece. After that, a new carbide tip had to be rebrazed onto the same place.

The target temperature required for the debrazing and re-brazing process was 1450ºF (787ºC). The UltraFlex induction heater considered most appropriate to complete the job was a 5 kW induction heating system from the UltraHeat SM series. Operating with either water-cooled or air-cooled remote heat station, this heater is capable of providing full power in the 30-200 kHz frequency range.

Under power of 5 KW, used for both the de-brazing and brazing process, the target temperature of 1450ºF (787ºC) was reached and the carbide tip replacement completed within as little as 1 minute - with the de-brazing and brazing stages taking 30 seconds each. The replacement was completed with the highest possible quality, while being at the same time energy and resource efficient. In addition, since induction brazing eliminates the need for open flame, this meant eliminating smoke, waste heat and noxious emissions.
