PRLog -- To sustain the Navy's operational advantage in the area of Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Nokomis has been selected for a highly competitive Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I contract from the United States Navy to enhance sonobuoy defense systems that reduce the threat from adversary submarines.
Nokomis will integrate its Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and a patented highly sensitive detection suite to enhance the Navy's sonobuoy defense systems. This effort will help Navy adapt to the 21
st century environment that is increasingly challenging due to the littoral environment in which the Navy operates and advanced technologies that are proliferating around the world.
"Future enemies will pose asymmetric threats by employing submarines that benefit from technological advances in enhanced propulsion, quieting techniques, and weapons technologies. The threat these new technologies pose necessitates the development of a new means of defense.
