Nov. 4, 2018 - PRLog -- RSL Queensland has urged Australian business to offer practical, ongoing support for ex-service men and women, as well as public recognition of their service.

RSL Queensland President Tony Ferris said large companies such as Virgin Australia were well-placed to provide meaningful assistance to ex-Defence personnel.

"Some veterans will appreciate Virgin's gesture to acknowledge them on flights, others won't want to be singled out," Mr Ferris said.

"We encourage large businesses to make a worthwhile commitment by employing veterans and their partners, opening up new careers and providing them with a renewed sense of purpose."

Mr Ferris said RSL Queensland's Defence Family Research Project showed former ADF personnel and their families needed support in four key areas – Employment, Financial Resilience, Health and Wellness and Relationships.

"RSL Queensland has an employment matching service which can help businesses hire Defence veterans, who bring a unique and valuable set of skills and experience to the workplace," he said.

"We'd like to talk to Virgin, and other companies, about providing valuable, practical help to veterans in need."
