BOULDER, Colo. - Oct. 16, 2018 - PRLog -- Blink Identity was one of twelve companies invited to showcase their system for DHS and other governmental agencies, as well as interested parties in commercial aviation, physical security and other sectors. Each solution was evaluated for efficiency, satisfaction, and effectiveness, and each company had to meet listed requirements such as unmanned operation, time restraints, and limited physical footprint.  Blink Identity was the only full in-motion face/iris system participating in the rally.

According to the announcement, Blink Identity's solution (code-named Plata for the test) outperformed other systems with a total transaction time of less than 4 seconds.  Transaction time includes the time required for a subject to walk through the system, as well as the time to acquire/process the image. Blink Identity's solution acquires and processes an image in approximately 250 milliseconds.

Additionally, Blink Identity's iris solution had a significantly lower failure to acquire (FTA) rate than other systems, even though Blink Identity's iris solution was in-motion, and the other systems were static.  Acquiring irises in-motion is particularly challenging because the region of interest is so small and the requirements for resolution are very high.

"We were very pleased to be invited to participate in the NIST biometric rally, especially as such a young company" said Mary Haskett, CEO of Blink Identity. "The feedback we gained from the NIST tests was invaluable in refining our product, and we have already made substantial gains in performance since this test was conducted."

The 2018 rally was done at the Maryland Test Facility, a controlled environment for laboratory evaluation and operational scenario-based testing of various biometric entry and exit concepts of operation under simulated airport conditions.
