BOSTON - Oct. 12, 2018 - PRLog -- EdTech Times and Boston University have joined together to co-host xR in EDU, an event to explore augmented and virtual realities' impact on learning across the full spectrum of education. The second-annual xR in EDU will bring together leaders from the augmented and virtual reality industry presenting alongside top researchers and practitioners from K–12, higher education and professional training. Industry organizations represented on the agenda include Google, HTC Vive, Microsoft, Oculus, PTC and Unity Technologies. Research organizations include MIT, Harvard and SRI International. Case studies will be presented by Fidelity Labs, Bunker Hill Community College and other educational institutions. The event will be held at Boston University on October 22. Attendees include leaders in the virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), education and investment ecosystems. The event's goal is to share best practices, discuss unique research findings, and facilitate meaningful connections that will accelerate the integration of extended reality (xR) technologies in K–12, higher education, and professional training environments.

The exhibit hall will include major organizations as well as startups involved in the education technology landscape—those organizations include FlowImmersiv, LearnLaunch, Magic Leap, Mursion, Schell Games, TERC, Thinglink, Uptale, Xennial Digital, and zSpace.

The program will close with a talk from Milica Zec, an award-winning New York and Los Angeles-based film, virtual and mixed reality director. Her cinematic VR projects Giant and Tree premiered at Sundance Film Festival and were screened in more than 70 festivals including the Cannes Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, TED Conference, and most recently the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of New Champions. She co-founded New Reality Company with Winslow Porter and they have been praised for their innovative use of VR as a vehicle for storytelling. Milica's works provide an amazing vehicle for creating empathy, which is an area of interest for all involved in education and training.

"As a BU alum and the founder of EdTech Times, I am thrilled to have these two organizations co-hosting this year's xR in EDU event. We look forward to bringing the leaders in industry together with leaders in education once again to facilitate meaningful connections," said Hakan Satiroglu, founder of EdTech Times and co-founder of LearnLaunch.

"This year's xR in EDU will feature updates from the technology giants in augmented and virtual reality, dive into education research and showcase best practices being developed in K12, higher education and professional training. We can't wait to share this programming with the greater Boston community," said Hester Tinti-Kane, CEO of EdTech Times.
