Latinas: The Sleeping Giants of Entrepreneurs

PHILADELPHIA - Oct. 9, 2018 - PRLog -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) met this year at its annual conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  This annual gathering brings together a plethora of successful Hispanic leaders and business to encourage Hispanic economic development to further the national economy. After all, cultivation and growth of Spanish businesses and entrepreneurship within the United States is key, because as a nation, we are in this juntos, Spanish for "together".

Hispanic Heritage Month began September 15th. So now, more than ever, is the time to proudly celebrate and laud the Hispanic businessmen and women that are unequivocally making a difference not only in their communities, but at a national level. In particular, the national #PitchYourBiz Competition hosted by the USHCC and American Airlines highlighted NoMo Nausea's Peruvian CEO Dr. Jacqueline Darna as an honoree. Dr. Darna is the medical inventor of NoMo Bands. NoMo bands ingeniously combine aromatherapy and acupressure into a wristband for nausea or migraine relief. In other words, these waterproof silicone wristbands smell like peppermint and use a small pressure point on the wrist to stop nausea, vomiting, headaches, motion sickness, in just seconds.

These bands have not only changed the lives of individuals, but they have changed the face of medicine in hospitals in over 12 countries of the world. Hospital patients, motion sickness sufferers, migraine sufferers and morning-sick pregnant moms alike now have access to a 100% all-natural stylish wristband that relieve them from some of the most common but uncomfortable symptoms and allow them to continue on with their daily lives.

Since NoMo Nausea and NoMo Migraine bands are clinically proven to stop 80% of nausea, vomiting, and headaches in just seconds, it is no wonder they began gaining the interest of mainstream media, TV, radio, Podcast, and awards. Soon, Dr. Darna had over 10,000 "big box" retailers like CVS, Bed Bath & Beyond, BuyBuy Baby, Amazon, Walmart and Zulily carrying her products to help others stop morning sickness, motion sickness on cruises, and chemotherapy cancer nausea naturally.

Yes, that's right. NoMo Nausea Bands are not only effective for motion sickness and morning sickness, but they are extremely effective for cancer patients who suffer nausea after chemotherapy treatments. However, Dr. Darna understands the financial and emotional strain that a cancer diagnosis can have on patients and their families. In hope to help alleviate the stress many cancer patients and their caregivers experience, Dr. Darna employs her "Buy a Band, Give a Band" philanthropy during the month of October. For every band bought during October, which is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, she donates a band to a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy. She is excited to continue this philanthropy she began when she founded her business four years ago, and hopes to see it proliferate as her company expands its reach.

Luckily, the USHCC provided opportunities for just that, with their Business Matchmaking Event. The business matchmaking pairs companies one on one with supplier diversity buyers and allows women-owned and latino business the same networking opportunities as giants in the industry. Dr. Darna explains that with events like these, her "bootstrapped company that started with an idea just 4 years ago is now competing alongside of giants in the industry including Dramamine and Sea Band. We may be a small business but we pack a huge punch. We are a lean mean fighting machine, and our sales success shows just that."

Dr. Darna's experience at the conference also involved meeting buyers including Target, Kroger, and American Airlines. She was met with tremendous positivity, which suggests you will see NoMo Nausea & NoMo Migraine on more shelves very soon as more buyers hear her story. If you have not heard Dr. Darna's inspiring story, you can learn more about how her company began on her website (Visit http://nomonausea.com). But, in short, Dr. Darna developed NoMo Nausea bands after experiencing extreme nausea and vomiting after an emergency C-section when none of the usual anti-nausea medications, worked. When she found that only peppermint leaves and pressure on her P6 point on her wrist gave her relief, she worked diligently to make connections with engineers and manufacturers, and NoMo Nausea was born!

From that point forward, Dr. Darna has worked persistently to ensure the success of NoMo Bands. Through event networking and winning business awards, including the WBENC PepsiCo Pitch Competition, buyers from Disney Cruise Lines, Walmart, and even the AARP, recognize the future purchasing potential is eminent and have given positive testimonials. In addition, the award money and executive mentoring by PepsiCo executives, proves that NoMo Nausea's CEO is unstoppable. Furthermore, it undoubtedly predicts that her newest product line, NoMo Sleepless Nights, a natural product to help put you off to sleep faster and keep you asleep longer, will be a success.

Speakers Nely Galan and award-winning actress and entrepreneur Zoe Saldana from Guardians of the Galaxy explain that "Hispanic Female CEO's are the sleeping giants in the industry, starting companies five times faster." Dr. Jacqueline Darna is just one example of true Hispanic tenacity, motivation, and unstoppable desire to succeed. Dr. Darna explains "the American dream is alive and thriving, and I am living breathing proof of it." All in all, she cannot wait to see how the Hispanic business community will continue change the world, juntos.
