Follow on Google News | Project Playhouse Returns to Atlanta!Volunteers build a custom child-size playhouse in support of HomeAid Atlanta's mission.
By: HomeAid Atlanta On Saturday, September 15, HomeAid, in partnership with home builder and member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, Paran Homes, began construction on 2018's single playhouse, The Saltbox of the Earth, designed by architect Mike Hart of The Hartwin Group. Fifteen volunteers from Paran Homes and Kennesaw State University (KSU)'s Residential Construction Management program spent the morning completing the framing of the playhouse in warehouse space donated by Meridian Brick & Masonry Supply in Smyrna. Beginning in mid-November, The Saltbox of the Earth will be displayed at Avalon in Alpharetta. An online raffle to win the playhouse will begin on Black Friday, November 23, and run through December 13. HomeAid Atlanta will announce the winner on December 14. Details will be available on www.homeaidatlanta.org. In addition to the support from Paran Homes, KSU, and The Hartwin Group, the following companies have donated materials to create this quaint cottage: Builders First Source, Champion Millworks, Tucker Door, Synergy Roofing, Inc., Lindsay Windows, and Trex. HomeAid Atlanta Executive Director Mandy Crater remarked, "We are excited to revive Project Playhouse after so many years. We had such success with the event from 2004 - 2010 that it is a dream come true for us to begin construction on this miniature, custom home. We are beyond grateful for the support and enthusiasm of Paran Homes, KSU, and all of the other donors for making Project Playhouse's return a reality in 2018." HomeAid Atlanta, founded in 2001, is a nonprofit organization that builds new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach. HomeAid works in partnership with the building industry, as well as community organizations, to assist people experiencing homelessness. To date, HomeAid Atlanta has completed over 100 housing, remodel and care day projects at locations serving victims of domestic violence, teen mothers, veterans and more. HomeAid is the designated charity of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. Learn more at www.homeaidatlanta.org. End
