Flagler Tiger Bay Club Hosts First Luncheon at Hammock Beach Resort Sept. 17

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Sept. 6, 2018 - PRLog -- The recently formed Flagler Tiger Bay Club board of directors are pleased to announce they will host their first luncheon at the Hammock Beach Club, located at 200 Ocean Crest Drive in Palm Coast on September 17th at 11:30am. The guest speaker will be Husein Cumber. Mr. Cumber is the Executive Vice President for Corporate Development for Florida East Coast Industries, LLC. FECI is one of Florida's largest commercial real estate, transportation and infrastructure companies. Mr. Husein will discuss the possibility of a high speed train coming to Flagler County.

On August 23rd, the Flagler Tiger Bay Club hosted their inaugural event, a wine tasting and hors d'oeuvrespairing evening, at the Palm Coast Community Center that drew over 100 attendees.

As the Executive Vice President for Corporate Development at FECI, Mr. Cumber has the responsibility for guiding major capital projects, including Brightline, the first privately owned, operated and maintained intercity passenger rail system in the U.S. in over 100 years.

Prior to joining FECI, Mr. Cumber was Executive Vice President for Corporate Development for Florida East Coast Railway, L.L.C. (FEC), an affiliate company of FECI. Mr. Cumber had responsibility for financially structuring and managing several capital projects, including reconnecting the FEC Railway to the Port of Miami, the construction of a new intermodal container transfer facility at Port Everglades, and working with public agencies to introduce commuter rail service in the FEC corridor.

Mr. Cumber served as the Deputy Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Transportation and prior to that was the Assistant to the Secretary for Policy. Mr. Cumber assisted in the daily operations of a federal agency with approximately 60,000 people and a $70 billion budget. He provided policy direction for highways, motor carriers, pipelines, railroads (including Amtrak), transit, and domestic security issues. Mr. Cumber was nominated by President George W. Bush on May 20, 2008 to be a Member of the Surface Transportation Board.

Mr. Cumber is a Board Member of JEA, the eighth largest community-owned electric utility company in the United States and the largest in Florida. He is also a Board Member of the Florida State College at Jacksonville Foundation, Take Stock in Children, St. Mark's Episcopal Day School, JAXBIZ, and the Florida Chamber of Commerce. He is the past President of the Florida Railroad Association and past Board Member of the Coalition for America's Gateways and Trade Corridors. Mr. Cumber has previously served on the Boards of the Jacksonville Sports Council, North Broward YMCA, the Florida Telecommunications Industry Association and the Strategic Intermodal Transportation Advisory Committee. Mr. Cumber was a founding member of the Florida Intermodal Transportation Association and is a graduate and previous Board Member of Leadership Florida.

Mr. Cumber is a graduate of Duke University and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in U.S. National Security.

Members have common bonds in civility, respectful and frank dialog and discussion, and commitment to making their community and lives better through differing points of view, knowledge, and information sharing. As a nonpartisan organization, Flagler Tiger Bay Club does not endorse candidates or take sides on issues.

The club ensures the stability of its nonpartisanship organization through a Board of Directors made up equally of democrats, republicans, and non-party affiliates. No one party has control of executive leadership or the board. The Flagler Tiger Bay Board of Directors include; John Birney, John Brady, Cindy Dalecki, Greg Davis, Frank DeAngelo, Rebecca DeLorenzo, Ed Fuller, Awilda Hamilton, Howard Holley, Mark Langello, Don Madden, Jake Scully, Lea Stokes, Helga van Eckert and Gary Walsh.

Flagler Tiger Bay meets monthly, with most meetings closed to members and their guests. Typically, meetings are one hour over lunch with a speaker or panel to present or discuss topics and issues that are political, civic, or things that may or will impact on politics. The meetings are typically held at Hammock Beach Resort.

Attendees must be members or be invited as a guest by a member. Annual Individual membership dues for the club are $350.00, with a $100 registration fee.
