PORTLAND, Ore. - July 18, 2018 - PRLog -- Inova Kellar Center, Inova Health System's premier behavioral health center for children and families in Northern Virginia, utilized the Owl Insights®  measurement-based care cloud solution ("the Owl")  to successfully meet Joint Commission accreditation standards, including the recently added Joint Commission requirement that behavioral health providers engage in measurement-based care through the use of a standardized tool or instrument to measure outcomes. The successful implementation of Owl Insights at Inova Kellar Center earned a commendation from the Joint Commission surveyor, who referred to the Center as a "High Reliability Organization" and leader in the implementation of measurement-based care. A High Reliability Organization (HRO) is an organization that is "establishing near zero rates of failure for critical quality processes and making sure that they stay at that level of performance across all services for very long periods of time."

Inova Health System is a $3.3 billion hospital system annually serving more than two million people from throughout Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC, metro area. Inova Kellar Center provides a full array of outpatient services and programs, including individual, family and group therapy, medication management, psychiatric evaluations, psychological testing, intensive outpatient programs, intensive home-based services and partial hospitalization programs.

Inova Kellar Center selected the Owl as its measurement-based care cloud solution to screen, measure, analyze, and track patient-reported outcomes for a range of behavioral health conditions. A HIPAA-compliant platform that easily integrates with major EMRs and can be accessed from any device, the Owl offers an extensive curated clinically-validated outcome measures library. Furthermore, the platform automatically selects, schedules, and reports outcomes throughout the course of care. The Owl has enabled Inova Kellar Center to automate workflows, which reduces clinician burden, enhances patient engagement, and improves clinical workflow. The Owl also helps Inova Kellar Center ensure that it is delivering the appropriate level of care for each patient, streamlining the utilization case review process and improving clinical documentation for enhanced ROI.

"The entire staff of Inova Kellar Center is proud of our recent Joint Commission success, said Rick Leichtweis, Ph.D., Senior Director of Inova Kellar Center. "The Owl was vital to our achievement of both Joint Commission accreditation and recognition for successfully integrating MBC into clinical practice. The Owl changed the conversation by enabling our organization to implement measurement-based care easily, efficiently, and cost-effectively in order to achieve our ultimate goal of enhancing patient care."

"We are very pleased to have played a pivotal role in Inova Kellar Center's exceptional performance in the accreditation process," said Eric Meier, CEO of Owl Insights. "Inova Kellar Center's use of the Owl demonstrates the power of our solution to simplify and scale the implementation of measure-based care for better clinical and economic outcomes."

"Joint Commission accreditation provides behavioral health care organizations with the processes needed to improve in a variety of areas related to the care of individuals and their families," said Julia Finken, RN, BSN, MBA, CSSBB, CPHQ, and Executive Director, Behavioral Health Care Accreditation Program, of The Joint Commission. "We commend Inova Kellar Center for its efforts to elevate the standard of care it provides and to instill confidence in the community it serves."
