ATLANTA - July 10, 2018 - PRLog -- Atlanta-based human services agency Caring For Others, Inc. will give 700 children a new pair of shoes on Saturday, July 21, 2018, when hosting its sixth-annual No Bare Soles shoe distribution.  The program will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the organization's South Atlanta headquarters located at 3537 Browns Mill Road, Atlanta, GA 30354.

In addition to helping qualifying families avoid the cost of school shoes for their children, the program also aims to send a subtle message of acceptance and encouragement to each recipient.

"The intent of this program has always been to help children living in financial hardship walk with a greater sense of dignity," says Eslene Richmond-Shockley, founding president and CEO of Caring For Others, Inc. "That is why we give only new shoes to recipients." Having grown up poor in a small community in the South American country of Guyana, Shockley speaks from personal experience.

"I can still remember the first pair of new shoes I received as a child," she says. "They made me feel like I was as good as the other children who had more than my siblings and I. Every child should know that feeling and that they are worth a new pair of shoes and so much more." Shockley often purchases the shoes for the program with her own money.

Since the first shoe distribution event in 2011, No Bare Soles has given more than 100,000 new pairs of shoes to children in more than five countries including the United States, Antigua, Guyana, Nepal and the Philippines.

Families participating in No Bare Soles have pre-registered for the event by providing birth certificates for children and proof of residency in one of the zip codes Caring For Others serves. Caring for Others welcomes the community's support. Sponsorships of $20 per child are available.
