Follow on Google News | Apache Junction Unified School District Accepting School Supply DonationsBy: Apache Junction Unified School District A list of requested items is posted on the District's Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/ For those who prefer to donate at an alternative location, after July 5, or on Saturdays, Arizona Wholesale Floors, 200 S. Ironwood Drive, also in Apache Junction, will accept donations. Their showroom is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The first day of school is July 24. Once school is in session donations will be accepted at Project Help, 195 E. Superstition Blvd on the north side of the Pinal County Complex. For more information call 480-288-2955. According to a Dec. 19, 2017 report by Ariana Figueroa for National Public Radio, teachers spend more than $250 a year on school supplies. According the story, the amount is closer to $1,000 a year for many educators. Student needs were not addressed in the report, but an AJUSD representative said student supplies are always needed and donations are much appreciated.
