The World Turns to War named a winner in the 20th annual Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards

HERSHEY, Pa. - June 18, 2018 - PRLog -- Monroe Publications is pleased to announce The World Turns to War has been named a winner in the 20th annual Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards.

Foreword Reviews, a book review journal focusing on independently published books, announced the winners of its INDIES Book of the Year Awards on Friday. The World Turns to War is the 2017 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award silver winner in the War & Military category. More than 2,000 entries were submitted in 68 categories, with the review's editors choosing the finalists, and a panel of more than 150 librarians and booksellers acting as judges to pick the winners.

The World Turns to War (November 2017) is the latest volume in the powerful series, War Stories: World War II Firsthand™. Written and compiled by award-winning filmmaker and historical author Jay Wertz, The World Turns to War combines eyewitness accounts, a narrative based on modern research, original maps and rarely or never seen photos. Over the span of two decades Wertz has gathered more than 500 personal interviews with veterans and eyewitnesses from 22 countries.

"Awarding the INDIES is an intense months long judging process and our editorial team and librarian/bookseller judges grow a bit emotional as the announcement date nears," said Matt Sutherland, Foreword Reviews' editor-in-chief. "Everyone involved finds it a great honor to recognize all these great books. These indie publishers are passionate about what they do, take chances, and produce a wide range of thought-provoking books."

Previously The World Turns to War was awarded a bronze medal in the World History category of the 2017 Independent Publisher IPPY awards and was judged a Finalist in the Historical Non-Fiction category of the 2018 Next Generation Indie Book Awards.
