Lennar Utah donates more than 12,000 diapers to the Utah Diapar Bank
The Utah Diaper Bank is a local chapter of the National Diaper Bank Network. Founded in 2012, the program regularly donates to local organizations such as The Road Home, South Valley Sanctuary and other local shelters.
An adequate supply of diapers can cost more than $100 per month and national safety-net programs such as the Food Stamp Program and WIC, a special nutritional program for women and infants, do not cover diaper costs. In poor and low-income families, a baby can suffer from health issues from having to spend a day or longer in the same diaper.
Adding to the issue, low-income parents cannot take advantage of free or subsidized childcare without providing disposable diapers. Cloth diapers are not accepted at most licensed day care centers and typically, families struggling in poverty won't have access to affordable washing facilities.
Lennar is proud to celebrate their annual diaper drive every year, which across the country hosts the fundraiser in a partnership with other builders and trade partners. For more information on how to get involved with donating to the Utah Diaper Bank, visit www.utahdiaperbank.org.
