Machine automatically extracting and analyzing information in video content will disrupt Chinese e-commerce market

KOWLOON BAY, Hong Kong - June 12, 2018 - PRLog -- A stoppable video platform based on artificial intelligence (AI) has been launched in Hong Kong. Toch HK announced its beta-launch today, targeting at the Chinese language markets in Asia.

Video is predicted to take up 80 per cent of global consumer internet traffic by 2019. Brands are looking at ways to capitalize on the trend by making their videos shoppable. Currently, no fully automated service in the market can wisely extract information from video content and analyze it for business insights into e-commerce. Toch HK bridges the gap.

According to Toch HK's Chief Executive Officer Seth Mak, Toch HK is a tech-media company which applies AI and Blockchain technologies to make streaming videos readily shoppable. "The technologies are directed to fully unleash the power of information embedded in video contents. The Toch machine is able to discover product, place, people, activities, and even emotion in the contents of videos for auto-tagging, and link the objects to e-commerce sites such as Amazon and Baidu, or to clients' e-shops," said Mak.

"Shoppable videos powered by the Toch intelligence will be a disruption to the market. They will not only offer a new experience of video viewing, but also trigger new concepts of video creation, e-shopping as well as advertising," added Mak.

Borrowing the success of its parent company in India, Toch HK aims its business at the Chinese market in Hong Kong as well as the Chinese mainland, which offers a huge market potential in B2C video e-shopping.

While competitors are beginning to seize the business opportunity promised by the China market, Toch HK has built its competitive advantage by "leveraging the Toch machine, which is the first in the world to provide fully AI-based tagging. The Toch intelligence of real time detection and tagging based on AI gives us a niche," said Chief Technology Officer Saket Dandotia.

"It takes a bit of time for machines to learn, but we have now reached more than 85 per cent accuracy in tagging products using our proprietary algorithm, and expect a 100 per cent accuracy when the platform is fully launched within a few months. We also use Blockchain to help keep the identity and share logs for content ownership," explained Dandotia.

Apart from making AI-based shoppable videos for e-commerce, Toch HK also plans to leverage its machine power to generate further business opportunities by building a social media platform which allows users to create and upload their smart videos for enjoyment, interaction and expression.
