National Council on Interpreting in Health Care Installs 2018 Board of Directors
Enrica J. Ardemagni, Ph.D., President
Joy Connell, Vice President
Erika Shell Castro, Secretary
Gaye Gentes, Treasurer
"It is a pleasure to welcome the newly elected directors who represent a diversity of skills as interpreters, trainers, supervisors, and who bring years of experience in the non-profit sector," said NCIHC President Enrica Ardemagni. "We have an increasing membership, a consistently active listserv, and engagement through our award winning social media and training webinars. Their work will help enhance the goals of the organization and to serve the LEP community."
The investiture of the new Board members took place at the NCIHC 12th Annual Membership Meeting in Denver, Colorado on June 1, 2018. This event offers the opportunity for members to meet the board members in person, as well as to spend a full day and a half meeting that offers educational sessions, expert panelists who discuss issues of language access in health care, and networking opportunities to make connections with stakeholders in language access. Ardemagni noted, "We appreciate these highly accomplished individuals who volunteer their time to move NCIHC forward and to celebrate the organization's progress for leading the nation in language access policy and practice."
NCIHC is a multidisciplinary organization whose mission is to promote and enhance language access in health care in the United States. The newly elected Board Directors will join the other directors to round out a national group of experts in the language services industry.
