HOUSTON - June 7, 2018 - PRLog -- With high anticipation for the summer must-read list, Sparrow Spaulding takes the ultimate leap of bravery as she recounts the tumultuous perils of her hard-knocked life in the compelling coming of age story, Riding Standing Up. Crafting her own narrative has been a monumental step in reclaiming her own life. In her memoir, Sparrow draws in readers with the vivid details of her traumatic experiences. From start to finish Spaulding keeps her readers at the edge of their seats while moving through the rollercoaster of events that she experienced as a young girl growing up in rural New England.

The trauma starts at age three when Sparrow is violently kidnapped by her biological father and hidden in the Deep South for over a year.  Sparrow is returned home at the age of four to a mother who is pregnant and married to a Vietnam veteran addicted to heroin and alcohol. Sparrow's mother slowly descends into mental illness and pill addiction as they are living in poverty and squalor.

Sparrow, being the oldest, evolves into a scrappy kid who tries her best to look out for herself and her siblings.  She has to become strong to deal with the many traumas she faces including abuse, neglect, and poverty. As Sparrow ascends into puberty she fights hard to protect herself and her siblings from continued abuse. Through it all Sparrow never loses her faith, sense of humor or her innocence even though she makes lots of questionable choices on her journey to adulthood.

Today, Sparrow Spaulding is a life coach, humanitarian and keynote speaker. After more than forty years she is ready to share her story. It is a tale of trauma and pain, but her story is also one of healing and transformation. Sparrow's writing is raw but honest and it beautifully illustrates how one can take the most terrible thing that has happened to them and turn it into a message that uplifts and inspires.

Sparrow Spaulding has transformed her life and she's made it her personal mission to transform the lives of others through her memoir. After spending the last twenty years working in the trenches with people one on one, she is ready to open up and tell the world how she was able to overcome her own heartbreaking start to life. Through sharing her journey, Sparrow hopes to show others they, too, can move beyond survival mode and find peace.

Riding Standing Up is a tear-jerker, but it's balanced with a bit of comic relief. The premise of this story will encourage others to contemplate their own childhood and discover how the things that happened along the way have shaped who they are today. Although survivors may always be somewhere on their journey, Sparrow believes people can commit to thriving after pain and releasing the shame that binds them.

Sparrow is more than a survivor—she's a thriver. Follow Sparrow on her continued journey and look out for the release of Riding Standing Up this summer 2018.  Stay connected and receive updates at sparrowspaulding.com.
