READING, Mass. -

PRLog -- Erin Calvo-Bacci is a small business owner and advocate, an elected Town Meeting Member serving since 2011, a wife and a mother to three girls in the Reading Public Schools. She's a longtime advocate of common sense public policy. Appointed to the Reading Historical Commission's Working Group, she worked to make Reading the first community in the commonwealth to add an appeal to the bylaw balancing Reading's effort to protect historic structures with the rights of private owners.
The small business owner and retail advocate understands the everyday challenges business owners face. She had grown her Main Street chocolate retail shop to three stores before scaling back and then selling off the retail division in 2015. She re-branded her chocolate manufacturer Bacci Chocolate Design to CB Stuffer and launched an online retail store to control increasing business costs. Calvo-Bacci is the recent recipient of the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce Business Woman of the year award and was awarded America's Retail Champion of the Year in 2015 by the National Retail Federation for her advocacy in both Washington D.C. and in Massachusetts on behalf of the industry. Last year she worked on a grassroots campaign to defeat the Border Adjustment Tax which would have created a costly burden to the already stretched thin working families and businesses through an increase in the cost of imported goods like produce.
A current board member of the Retail Association of Massachusetts and serving on their Legislative Committee she is witnessing the growing frustration small business owners and working families "Over the years, we have seen fewer small business owners serving in the Legislature. That's a problem as we seek public policy balance, and support for promoting, protecting and preserving our Main Streets. Erin has been an employer and a champion for small businesses for many years, and I know her voice on Beacon Hill would be very important for her communities, and for the entire Commonwealth,"
stated Jon Hurst, President of the Retail Association of Massachusetts.
