Riello UPS Reaches Finals In Energy Efficiency Category At DCS Awards

WREXHAM, Wales - April 12, 2018 - PRLog -- Riello UPS has reached the final four of the Data Centre Energy Efficiency Project of the Year category at the DCS Awards 2018, the annual celebration of excellence amongst suppliers, designers, manufacturers, and operators in the UK's booming data centre sector.

The firm, which is based on Wrexham Industrial Estate, is one of the country's leading manufacturers of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units. A UPS offers invaluable battery backup during electrical power outages or disturbances. It provides electricity until backup generators kick in, as well as keeping computers and IT systems running for long enough so they can safely shut-down with minimal risk of data loss and disruption.

Riello UPS has reached the final stages of this year's DCS Awards thanks to a project that helped reduce a client's carbon emissions by nearly 72%. It teamed up with electrical contractor The Rosebery Group to completely overhaul the UPS system installed across two huge datacentres belonging to one of the world's largest consumer goods suppliers.

The upgrade saw Riello UPS' super-efficient Multi Power modular UPS units replace the existing equipment, with the resulting efficiency improvements saving the client a staggering £335,000 on their annual energy costs. The scheme led to total energy savings of 1.25 million kilowatt hours, enough electricity to power 316 typical UK homes for a year.

Riello UPS now goes head-to-head in a public vote against the other three finalists in its category – Romonet Ltd, EcoRacks, and Kao Data – to decide who comes out on top as the winner.

Online voting is available via the DCS Awards website www.dcsawards.com before the closing date of Friday 11 May. Category winners will be revealed at a black-tie gala ceremony staged on Thursday 24 May at London's 5-star Grange St Paul's Hotel, which overlooks the iconic St Paul's Cathedral.
