What is a mind map?
A mind map is a simple tool used for producing visual thinking, which fundamentally helps clarify our thought process and condense large information into an easily understandable format.Mind maps encourages radiant thinking the way our brain has been originally designed to think.
Where all can you use a Mind Map?
Wherever you want to collate large information or clarify you thoughts or even generate new ideas, Mind Maps can be used. For instance, I use them while working on my writing projects, making business plans, designing training content, making lecture notes, teaching kids, planning family functions, or even to de-stress. The list just goes and on.
Why should my organisation adopt Mind Maps?
Almost all throughout our lives, we are only exposed to linear or rational thinking, which kind of restricts how much we can achieve through our brain. However, using mind maps is an altogether different ball game. These encourage radiant thinking, enhance individual creativityand most importantly helps harness collective intelligence of teams.
Given that Mind Maps are such basic tools, do they really work?
A simple read through may make mind maps look like the creation of a child. However, though itmaysound simple, yet it functionsin an intense manner. It helps you engagebetter with thesubject on hand. Millions of people across the globe are using Mind Maps and there are loads of success stories using Mind Maps both by organisations as well as individuals.
My Mind Map does not look too good! Will it work for me?
Yes it will. Even if the first Mind Map that you make looks a little shabby, you will be surprised that you will not have any difficulty in reading and interpreting it. So, don't worry, keep going and you will find a gradual improvement in the quality of your Mind Maps
Are software drawn Mind Maps better than Hand drawn Mind Maps?
This is more a matter of personal choice. I use both; however for those new to Mind Maps I always encourage them to draw a few hand drawn Mind Maps before starting to use any software for it.
