Illinois Humanities to Launch Envisioning Justice on 4/3: A Citywide Conversation on Incarceration

CHICAGO - April 2, 2018 - PRLog -- Illinois Humanities will hold a press conference on Tuesday, April 3 at 10:30 a.m. at historic Roberts Temple, 4021 S. State Street in Chicago to announce the launch of Envisioning Justice, a two-year initiative for the people of Chicago that will use the arts and humanities to engage Chicagoans of all neighborhoods, races, ethnicities, backgrounds and ideologies in a citywide conversation about the impact of incarceration on local communities.

For the initiative Illinois Humanities has partnered with community-based organizations across the city, referred to as "hubs," to create arts-education and community-discussion programs that promote creative solutions by Chicagoans to the negative impacts of incarceration in their community.

Representatives from Illinois Humanities and the Hubs, which are located in five of the communities directly affected by incarceration, Bronzeville, Back of the Yards, Little Village, North Lawndale, Rogers Park and at the Cook County Jail and the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center will announce the upcoming projects and talk about how Chicagoans can get involved.
