Follow on Google News | 33% overall marks enough to pass class X, says CBSEThe Central Board of Secondary Education issued a circular to ease norms in internal subjects assessment, implements 33% overall pass marks in Class X in 2018.
By: Examresults.net The board, in the circular issued, said that instead of the 33% pass marks, secured separately in internal assessment and board exams, class X students had to get 33% marks overall. The circular said, "The examination committee of the board in its meeting held on 16.02.2018 after considering the circumstances and the facts that the current batch of class X: 2018 is coming from a different assessment background while they were in class IX (in 2017) resolved to approve the following for this batch of class-X appearing in 2018 examinations as a one-time measure." The board approved the overall pass marks criteria to be relaxed to 33% overall instead of 33% secured separately in internal assessment and board exams. It also said that students with additional 6th and 7th subjects will be exempt from mandatory separate pass criteria norms (if the subject has internal assessment of 20 marks and board exams of 80 marks). This criteria, though, is not valid for vocational subjects as internal assessment carries 50 marks in these cases. The class X exams are all set to start from the 5th of March, 2018 and will continue till the 4th of April. This is the first time in 7 years that the class X exams will be mandatory after the HRD ministry had made the exams optional in 2009. 16.38 lakh students have registered to appear for the class X board exams, the results for which are to be tentatively out in May 2018.
