By: Recovery Boot Camp

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Feb. 16, 2018 - PRLog -- Unlike most Rabbis and Spiritual advisors, Rabbi Mark Rotenberg is far from typical: physically, mentally and spiritually. As the Minister to the Community at Recovery Boot Camp Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center and Healing Properties Sober Living in Delray Beach, he provides spiritual advice and meaning; as a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC) and Certified Prevention Consultant (CPC), he offers addicts guidance and instruction as they navigate their own road to recovery. He, however, does it all as a recovering addict himself, a former Orthodox Jew, and all while adorned with tattooed sleeves and gauge-pierced ears.

"My physical appearance combined with my life experiences open the door immediately to our clients here at Recovery Boot Camp," said Rabbi Rotenberg. "I'm immediately viewed as 'one of the guys' and someone that 'gets' them. From there I delve into the mental side of therapy, the 12-steps, and eventually the spiritual side that connects it all."

Rabbi Rotenberg, who joined Recovery Boot Camp in 2016 and actively facilitates its night-time intensive outpatient didactic sessions, has been working in the recovery field for over 15 years. He has worked with a variety of addictions as well as in intervention and counseling. His focus for the past eight years has been spiritual counseling, which uses psychological and spiritual therapy, with an emphasis on the spiritual awakening.

By blending spiritual and recovery texts with ancient and modern spiritual disciplines, Rabbi Rotenberg is able to successfully integrate the pragmatic recovery experience (12-steps) with the inner spiritual resources of the recovering individual. This is used to facilitate self-discovery in all aspects of the addicts' lives, said Rabbi Rotenberg.

Rabbi Rotenberg is leading a brand-new Recovery Boot Camp: Family Edition Webinar, which is available online for free and designed for families of addicts. The webinar, presented by the Schnellenberger Family Foundation, in partnership with Recovery Boot Camp, kicked off February 8th at 8:00 to 9:00 PM (EST) and will last 10 weeks. It is available on the Foundation's website (https://www.schnellenbergerfamily.foundation) and touches on all aspects of the family dynamics surrounding a loved one with the disease of addiction.

About Rabbi Mark Rotenberg

Rabbi Rotenberg received his undergraduate education in design at San Jose State University, and worked in the Arts and Design field for 15 years. After finding sobriety Mark started working in recovery. He later graduated from UCLA's addiction counseling program and went on to work full time in recovery.

As his own spiritual journey progressed he returned to the faith of his childhood and entered Rabbinic School at the Academy for Jewish Religion in Los Angeles, California. While battling his own resentments to the faith of his youth, Rabbi Rotenberg formed an open, inclusive theology that worked for his own struggles with life. He became aware that anyone who sought the spiritual and divine could form a proactive personal regime that would guide them in their quest. Rabbi Rotenberg is currently working on two recovery-based books.
