Noted Music Author Kit O'Toole Signs with Public Relations Firm, Debuts New "Key Notes" Brand
By: 12 Bar Publishing
Chicago-based O'Toole, author of Songs We Were Singing: Guided Tours Through the Beatles' Lesser-Known Tracks and Michael Jackson FAQ: All That's Left to Know About the King of Pop, has long specialized in "deeper dives" into popular music – album tracks and B-sides that she feels are just as significant as the hit songs.
"For example, everybody knows 'Hey Jude' and 'Let It Be,' which are of course wonderful Beatles songs," says O'Toole. "But tracks such as 'I'll Get You' and 'The Inner Light' have been unjustly underrated. They demonstrate how the Beatles grew creatively, and how they impacted music then and continue to do so."
In keeping with that theme, O'Toole is launching a new brand for her business called, "Kit O'Toole's Key Notes." The update will include a revised website, logo, and look that will be carried across all her media, plus an enhanced direction for her presentations.
"I love taking an audience through sounds they may never have noticed before, and I believe 'Key Notes' encompasses that," she said. "I've been told by some audience members that my presentations have changed the way they listen to music, which is the ultimate compliment. I love to inspire discussion and fun debate among fans, whether through writing or lectures."
In addition to her two books, O'Toole is also a longtime contributing editor for Beatlefan magazine, reviewer and "Deep Beatles" columnist for Something Else Reviews, the "DeepSoul" columnist for Blinded by Sound, a frequent contributor to Cinema Sentries, and a regular speaker at The Fest for Beatles Fans in Chicago and New York and the Beatles at the Ridge festival in Walnut Ridge, AR. O'Toole has also presented at the GRAMMY Museum Mississippi, and written chapters for academic collections such as Interdisciplinary Essays on Environment and Culture; New Critical Perspectives on The Beatles: Things We Said Today (Pop Music, Culture and Identity); and The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper, and the Summer of Love. Her next authored book, Soul Searching: Buried Treasures of R&B, Soul, Dance, and Hip-Hop, is forthcoming in 2018. She holds a doctorate in Instructional Technology.
