-- The Tech Academy has released a Technology Basics Dictionary, written by co-founders Jack Stanley and Erik Gross, that defines technology terms in a way that anyone can understand.
With technology becoming integral to almost every industry, a basic understanding of how computers and technology work is necessary for success.
Being the founders of one of the most successful software developer training schools in the world, Jack and Erik have learned quite a lot about how to break the subject down to the learner. Believing technology is for everyone, they are working to remove one of the biggest barriers to entry that have stopped people from really being able to understand and use technology.
Most technology training makes the mistake of assuming some prior knowledge of computers, which leaves room for misunderstanding. The Technology Basics Dictionary was created to address this issue.
The purpose of this dictionary is to provide a resource for general society to understand tech terms. It is hoped that when looking up a word in this dictionary, you won't need to look up other words – meaning, the authors attempted to prevent using undefined terminology within definitions.
As reviewer G. Becket puts it, "This is a very, very, very useful thing to have and the best example of this kind of reference I've seen. Definitions include brief and simple discussions of other concepts you'd have to understand to understand the term being defined and derivation/word histories. I recommend this to anyone and I'm really happy to have mine."
A key element behind The Tech Academy's success is defining technical terms in a way anyone can understand. Creating these definitions was a massive undertaking requiring thousands of hours of work. Though this dictionary was written and overseen by the Co-Founders of The Tech Academy, many other individuals contributed to its creation – including those with degrees in Computer Science.
