Follow on Google News | Frotcom arrives in the United States of AmericaThe Portuguese technology company is ready for a big move into the United States, the world's largest market for fleet telematics.
By: Frotcom - Intelligent Fleets With an international presence in more than 30 countries, Frotcom now enters the world's largest fleet telematics market, capitalizing on a recent US regulation that requires trucks to carry an electronic logging device (ELD), which records truck drivers' work and rest times. Similar to the European tachograph, the ELD includes onboard devices/tablets connected to the vehicles' electronic systems that obtain online data around location, movement, and other metrics. The new US legislation is an improvement to previous regulations that required the registration of driving and rest times but depended entirely on the driver to manually recorded these activities. This change aims to ensure that drivers do not spend excess hours at the wheel, endangering their own safety and that of others, while reducing the bureaucratic work that on average took up to 15 minutes per driver per day. Much of the technology required for ELD already existed on the Frotcom platform, as the system is used in more than 30 markets, including, Portugal, Italy, Spain, The United Kingdom, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, supporting European Fleet Managers to comply with European driving hours regulations. US expansion will be operated locally in partnership with Frotcom USA, whose comprehensive knowledge of the market will add value and ensure success. According to Valério Marques, CEO of Frotcom International, "This expansion enhances the position of Frotcom as an international player in fleet management. Over the last few years, we have accumulated extensive experience in the management of European fleets, enabling our customers not only to comply with legislation on driving and rest times, but above all to take full advantage of their fleets, whilst protecting their drivers from the risk of working dangerous hours. This experience has now allowed us to deal immediately and efficiently with the needs of US regulators, which though different from the European bodies, have significant similarities. We hope Frotcom will be a big advantage to US companies looking for an integrated, complete and compliant ELD fleet management solution." In addition to this new operation, Frotcom has recently strengthened its presence in West Africa by expanding its operation to Senegal and establishing a new partnership in South Africa. End
