WASHINGTON - Dec. 5, 2017 - PRLog -- According to the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), 91 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose. The opioid epidemic is one of the most complex public health crisis in our nation currently. Healthcare changes need to be made and the HHS is leading the way.

mymo.AI is pleased to announce their participation in the HHS Opioid Symposium and Code-a-Thon taking place December 6 and 7 in Washington, D.C. to contribute insights on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in medication management.

The events will promote and employ innovative ways to leverage technology and data to address the nationwide opioid epidemic.

The Opioid Symposium, led by HHS Acting Secretary Eric Hargan and HHS Chief Technology Officer Bruce Greenstein, will bring together federal, state, and local health officials, along with first-responders, who are concerned about the opioid epidemic and can share best practices and innovative solutions using technology and data.

The purpose of the Code-a-Thon is to develop data-driven solutions to the opioid epidemic using federal, state, and local (city, county) datasets. The mymo.AI team will be coding and programing mymo MedCab, a smart medicine cabinet to safely and securely manage and dispense medications to the correct end-users. mymo.AI is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technology and taking a multidisplinary approach to address the health concerns, social wellbeing, and financial impact the opioid crisis has had in our country. The mymo.AI IT and science team will be present to detail the promising technology and practices the mymo MedCab can have on medication management and data acquisition.

"We are leveraging the datasets provided by HHS to hone a scalable and impactful solution, and we are thrilled to have pain management expert, Dr. Melissa Durham, PharmD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at USC's School of Pharmacy collaborating with us." -Dr. Eric Hazzard, Chief Scientific Officer.
