U.S. based women's self-defense company, Divas In Defense makes impact in Kuwait

ATLANTA - Dec. 4, 2017 - PRLog -- Divas In Defense, a United States based organization was tapped by Olympic fencing champion and gender-equality activist, Balsam Al-Ayoub to come on board with her #BeStrong mission to empower the women, teens and young girls in her birth country, Kuwait.

Through her namesake organization, Balsam International, the pioneer sports figure has set out to advance women and girls through sports and other culture-enriching activities.

After receiving the call to action, Divas In Defense wasted no time joining the movement, dispatching Program Director (Girls Can Fight Too), Skye Walton and Vice President of Operations, Vanessa Parker. Like Balsam International, Divas In Defense has earned global respect and gained a large following—domestically and internationally, with trainers in dozens of markets. They have appeared on CNN, NBC, CBS, E! Network, Bravo TV and Lifetime TV because of their efforts to change the tide of abuse on women. Since 2012, they have been serving private groups, The Girl Scouts of America, public schools, college students, working women and major corporations.

From December 2nd through December 17th, Divas In Defense will instruct a 19 class series to local women at the Kuwait Sports Club, Al Bayan Bilingual School and the American Academy of Girls.

Full of gratitude and aware that she'd be contributing to history, Skye posted on social media, "What can I say, but thank you for this opportunity," followed by heart-lifting photos and videos chronicling her experiences teaching the program.

To date, hundreds of eager Kuwaiti women and girls have come ready to learn physical self-defense techniques, learn valuable information on the statistics of abuse and insight on how to identify and avoid situational crises. With classes developed for girls starting at age 4, Divas In Defense's mission is about more than just teaching people that Girls Can Fight Too, but on a deeper level, that they can tap into their confidence very early on in life. Divas teaches defense, but instills empowerment—because it's at the base of every confident woman.

Classes are going well as VP of Operations, Vanessa shared on Instagram, "The women and girls we're meeting are amazing. I can't wait to share all that we've learned during our time here."

Elated by the kick-off of this first of it's kind event, Balsam tweeted high praises about her American partners, "Girls really need self-defense training. Thanks a lot to our great trainers, the girls are really learning so fast."
