VocabularySpellingCity Acquires WriteSteps, a Technology-Based Writing and Grammar Program

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Oct. 17, 2017 - PRLog -- VocabularySpellingCity today announced the acquisition of WriteSteps, a technology-based writing and grammar program for grades K-5.

WriteSteps aligns with national and state standards, and also supports popular teaching methods such as Writer's Workshop and the 6 Traits/6+1 Traits Model so that teachers can seamlessly integrate the program into their classroom.

With daily instructional videos and interactive whiteboard lessons, WriteSteps engages students through its multisensory, digital platform. Teachers gain access to concise lesson plans and professional development including grade-level coaching. Students and teachers alike use WriteSteps to tackle writing with confidence.

"Our goal is to help students build their foundational literacy skills and become strong readers and writers who can think critically and express their point of view," said John Edelson, CEO of VocabularySpellingCity. "WriteSteps teaches students how to express their ideas in an organized, persuasive manner, and makes the experience engaging through its digital platform. WriteSteps fits perfectly alongside VocabularySpellingCity and Science4Us."

Features of WriteSteps:

Captivators are daily instructional videos that break down lessons into quick 5-7 minute clips, shortening instructional time so that students get more practice writing, and teachers can conference with students.

Captivation Station includes customizable writing prompts, audio and annotation tools for peer and teacher feedback, class and individual engagement data, a publishing feature, and tutorial videos.

Professional Development available both on-demand and custom built. From introductory videos to topic-specific PD, a team of teachers is available to support those new to the program.

WriteSteps began with a single teacher, Suzanne Klein, who developed a highly effective method for boosting K-5 writing skills while living in Michigan. Klein went on to become a national writing coach giving district-wide seminars on writing instruction. She received so many requests to share her modeled lessons that she decided to turn them into an online program that could make her methods instantly available to teachers. WriteSteps launched in 2007, and has since been used by thousands of teachers and schools across the country.

Now welcomed into the VocabularySpellingCity and Science4Us family, WriteSteps offers another supplemental online learning tool to schools and districts which will help them provide an exemplary education for their elementary-aged students.
