PRLog -- Many home buyers may be mislead by information found on the internet regarding what type of Environmental Inspections are necessary when purchasing a home. All tank sweeps are not created equal. Some oil tank sweeps use a metal detector and other more expensive sweeps use Ground Penetrating Radar that detect metal and concrete along with construction debris. Just recently working on a property in Matawan, NJ where a Oil Tank Sweep was perfromed using Ground Penetrating Radar . Various underground anomalies were identified during the sweep. Upon excavation of the anomalies and soil testing contaminated soils were identified. The contamination exceeded the NJDEPs Soil Direct Contact Soil Standards and required remediation. Pesticides, PCBS were identified along with gasoline contamianted soil. The source of this contaminated soil was "Historic Fill that was trucked onto the property decades ago.
