NEW YORK - Sept. 29, 2017 - PRLog -- Following this week's announcement that the Honorable Raymond P. Martinez has been appointed by President Donald J. Trump to serve as Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), leaders of the Transportation and Infrastructure practice of Davidoff Hutcher & Citron, LLP (DHC) are joining with other industry leaders to commend the appointment.

In his new role Mr. Martinez will lead a 1,000-person federal agency responsible for preventing commercial motor vehicle-related fatalities, injuries and ensuring safety in motor carrier operations.

Mr. Martinez previously served as an attorney with DHC, a law and government affairs firm with offices in Washington, D.C., New York City, Albany and Long Island, NY with a very significant practice serving the transportation and transit industries.  Its clients include: airlines, airport authorities, aviation construction, tunnel workers, railroads, monorails, trucking, vehicle fleet maintenance and school bus, ambulance, taxi and towing fleets.

Sid Davidoff (https://dhclegal.com/attorneys/sid-davidoff/), co-managing partner of DHC said, "The selection of Ray Martinez by the president is an exceptional choice.  He is a consummate professional, having served several presidential administrations and both governors of New York and New Jersey as Motor Vehicle Commissioner.  What's more, as an attorney he brings a great understanding of the law to this federal transportation agency that is so critical to commerce."

The FMCSA works to reduce crashes involving large trucks and buses, by creating and enforcing regulations that balance motor carrier safety with efficiency, enforces regulations on higher risk carriers and educates carriers, commercial drivers, and the public on road safety matters.

Brian Simon (https://dhclegal.com/attorneys/brian-w-simon/), past head of Government & Community Relations for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (http://www.panynj.gov/) and now Director of DHC's public affairs group added, "As someone who has worked closely to implement transportation and modern transit infrastructure policy in the Northeast, it is clear to me that the president paid close attention to who he would appoint for this vital federal agency."  The Port Authority of NY & NJ builds, operates, and maintains critical transportation and trade assets including the cross-Hudson River bridges and tunnels, four major airports, rail systems and seaport facilities, along with the 16-acre World Trade Center site.
