Oldfield's Appliance General Manager Rimmer Provides Smart Tips on Finding the Outdoor Grill of

EUGENE, Ore. - July 18, 2017 - PRLog -- "To barbecue or grill this season?" This question might well be on your mind when it comes summer barbecues with family and friends. And according to Joel Rimmer, general manager of Oldfield's Appliance in Eugene, "Back in the 1800s, our nation gathered in small community locales, usually a large field, for the traditional barbecue festivities—which were solemnly begun with a prayer and the recitation of the Declaration of Independence."

"Even before the Revolution," Mr. Rimmer continues, "historians tell us that barbecuing was not only a colonial past time that even our Founding Fathers enjoyed, but it became an expression of our communal pride in our nascent country's abundance and industrial potential. One may suspect that a person of those times could tell the loyalists from the revolutionaries by their attitude to barbecuing. George Washington himself recorded his barbecue escapades in his diary. According to www.AmazingRibs.com,

George Washington had a large smokehouse at his plantation at Mt. Vernon, Va. On May 27, 1769, the aristocrat, not yet our president or even a general, wrote in his diary (2:154): "Went in to Alexandria [Va.] to a Barbecue and stayed all Night." So the tradition of partying with outdoor-cooked meat can be traced back at least this far. Washington even hosted "a Barbecue of my own giving at Accatinck" in Sept. 1773.

Tips on Choosing the Grill That's Just Right for You!

Whether you're a barbecue aficionado and can smoke your beer (we have a recipe for that below) or a novice, Mr. Rimmer notes that Oldfield's has the industry's best grills and barbecuing equipment.

"You will be able to know what you want in a barbecue grill by whether you want to smoke your foods, and patiently wait the 2–4 hours it takes to cook in that manner," he says. "Low, consistent heat is the secret—or you just want to lay some steaks and hot dogs on the grill, and have a simple, fun family alternative meal right in your backyard."

What is the difference between a barbecue grill and a plain old grill?

"Barbecuing is a low-heat method of 225° to 265° Fahrenheit. Smoking the food is a major part of that process, which is why some barbecues are called smokers," explains Mr. Rimmer. "It provides what is referred to as indirect heat. Grilling is a high-heat direct, open-flame method, bringing the heat level up to 500° to 900° Fahrenheit. If you sear your meat, and want a moist, pink interior, then grilling is for you."

DCS for Summer Barbecue Success!

"One brand that's popular with folks who enjoy patio-barbecuing is DCS," Mr. Rimmer notes. The grills made by DCS allow you to cook fast or slow, to use convection heat, and are designed to be powered by clean energy sources such as natural gas. A DCS grill is so simple to set up because it can be hooked up to your house gas line. It gets to the desired temperature in just 10–15 minutes".

For those who like their grills to be fired up with liquid propane, DCS has a conversion kit available for purchase. "Folks who think that dessert is the main reason for celebrating the Fourth of July will be amazed at the baking capacity of a DCS grill," Mr. Rimmer says. "With its convection heat, you can bake an apple pie  or the traditional holiday pound cake (we also have a recipe for that in this blog) in your gas barbecue grill, and achieve the same, or better, results that you'd get in your kitchen.

Oldfield's has something for everybody's entertaining and celebrating needs — whether you want to roast the whole pig, or just a shoulder of the pork, or want to lay some steaks on the grill. "We have the grills to meet your barbecuing preferences," Mr. Rimmer says. "Just a few of the brands we carry are Traeger, Blaze, Weber and DCS."

What's more, Oldfield's honors manufacturer's promotions. Right now DCS has a promotion going on where if you buy a 36" or 48" gas grill, along with a DCS storage compartment, you can get a DCS side roaster or another storage compartment FREE. The side roaster is worth $899.00. Now that's a great deal.

Ask Oldfield's about the DCS brand promos or whether any brand you are interested in is conducting a promotion that you can benefit from. We've got your back. Just present the DCS manufacturer promo code ODK2017 to any Oldfield's salesperson, and we'll be happy to help you.

How Can Oldfield's Help You Find a Great Grill?

"I just encourage people to do some research online, or come down here to Oldfield's," Mr. Rimmer says. "We will be happy to demonstrate the features and benefits of trusted names like Traeger, Blaze, Weber and DCS. Now is a great time to take advantage of manufacturer incentives such as the one from DCS that we described earlier."

And don't forget our amazing HOT SUMMER SAVINGS sale. "We've got amazing deals not only on grills but also storewide specials on home appliances, including Speed Queen washers & dryers for easy cleaning up after your cookouts." The sale is limited to stock on hand.
