Sacred Heart School team to compete on WGBH "High School Quiz Show"

The Sacred Heart students ranked among the top 16 teams from a field of 112 schools to qualify for the tournament which will be broadcast at 6 pm Saturdays, beginning February 4th.

KINGSTON, Mass. - Dec. 15, 2016 - PRLog -- Sacred Heart School (www.sacredheartkingston.com), a private, Catholic, co-educational school for students in preschool through grade 12, is proud to announce that a team of high school seniors will be among 16 teams from across the state competing in the eighth season of WGBH's "High School Quiz Show."

Sacred Heart High School seniors Jonathan Clifford, Derek Cronin, Nathan Porelle, Josh Towner and team captain Jake Tibbets comprised one of 112 teams from throughout the state at the show's tryout session, held on November 28at WGBH studios in Brighton.  Ranked among the top 16 teams, the Sacred Heart seniors qualified to compete against the remaining 15 state teams in a test of high school knowledge.  The inter-state single elimination tournament will be filmed in the WGBH studio and broadcast at 6 p.m. Saturdays, beginning February 4th. The winning Massachusetts team will then face New Hampshire Public Television's Granite State Challenge champion.

"High School Quiz Show" is hosted by Boston celebrity Billy Costa, a familiar face at Sacred Heart fundraisers.

"Proud doesn't begin to describe how the entire school feels about these five fine students," said Sacred Heart High School Social Studies instructor Sean Cunningham, who accompanied the winning team to the November 28th tryouts.

"Once again, Sacred Heart is in the news in the most positive way," said Sacred Heart School President Sister Myra Rodgers, CDP.
