BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Nov. 24, 2016 - PRLog -- Lightline Pilgrimages has a new 11-day trip 'Pilgrimage to the Holy Land' departing   6 February 2017.  The group trip will be led jointly by Reverends Stephen Herbert, Robert Lawrance, Patricia Craighead & Martin Jackson.

The first three nights of the trip will be spent in Galilee in the north of Israel, staying in a guest house in Nazareth, the town in which Jesus grew up.

Whilst in the region, the group will be driven across the Jezreel Valley (the biblical scene of Armageddon) to Mount Tabor and ascend to the summit to visit the Church of the Transfiguration, and visit the site of the only spring in town, where Jesus' mother will have drawn water.  The day ends with a visit to Cana, the site of Jesus' first sign, where he turned water into wine at a friend's wedding.

Other highlights of the stay in Nazareth will include visits to the sites of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and the teaching of the Sermon on the Mount, and the village of Capernaum.   There will also be a chance to enjoy a leisurely sail aboard a traditional boat on the sea of Galilee.

Departing the Galilee on day four, the group will head south through the heart of the West Bank, bound for the city of Nablus and Jacob's Well, where the Fourth Gospel tells of Jesus' encounter with the woman drawing water.

Leaving Nablus, the next stop is the River Jordan, to the site believed to be close to where Jesus was baptised by John, with a chance to renew baptism vows, before heading for the oasis of Jericho where the walls famously came 'tumbling down'.

The next two nights will be spent in Bethlehem, with a visit to the Church of the Nativity and the Shepherds' Fields before heading on to Jerusalem for the remainder of the pilgrimage.

Whilst staying in Jerusalem, highlights will include the old footpath to Jericho (from where the good Samaritan parable originated), St. George's Monastery, the shores of the Dead Sea and Mount Masada to visit Herod's impressive fortified palace and the Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea scrolls were found.

The group will also visit the Gardens of Gethsemane, the Wailing Wall, the Dome of the Rock, the summit of the Mount of Olives (to trace Jesus' Palm Sunday journey), the Israel Museum, the Tomb of the Patriarchs and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre  (click here for full itinerary).

The holiday costs from £1775 pp (two sharing), which includes flights, all transportation, 10 nights' full board, entrance fees and an English tour leader.
