Follow on Google News | Atlanta-Based Stress Therapist Tackles Nagging In New Book Titled "Honey Do To Honey DONE!"In her very first book, Cheri Augustine Flake reveals the secret to getting household tasks done without badgering your partner to death.
By: The Stress Therapist "I really want to help as many people as I can keep the passion, happiness and love burning strong in their relationships while still maintaining a productive household," stated Cheri. "It is possible to get things accomplished without playing the stressful and unproductive roles of nagger or nag-ee." According to a 2014 study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, people who are frequently nagged are up to three times more likely to die prematurely. Meanwhile, the study found, people who reported frequent worries and demands from a partner had mortality risks that were 50-100 percent higher. Scary, huh?! "A sociology professor of mine used to say that a 'messy space is a messy mind,'" stated Cheri. "This has resonated with me almost every day of my life. Chaos and drama caused by frequent pestering over 'to do lists' in a relationship can be real poison." Cheri's book, Honey Do To Honey DONE!, promises an antidote to this kind of poison in relationships. Her book offers a fun, intuitive, and easy-to-implement system to enhance a couple's overall household productivity, improve the quality of communication, and infuse more joy into the relationship. "This book was written to help both men and women get the Love List system on board in their relationship so they can eliminate nagging," stated Cheri. "I've grown tired of self-help books that spend 100 pages or more explaining to readers why they need the book. I'm assuming that if you picked up this book, you know why it would make your life better, you're just ready to know how to do it. So, I've essentially made a manual type of self-help book that gets right into the meat and potatoes of how to never nag again and get the job done." The result is a quick read designed to appeal to the short attention span. It is exactly 100 pages with 17 short, entertaining chapters. The first half of the book shows readers how to navigate gender communication differences, accomplishing what he or she wants minus the nagging. According to Cheri, one of her favorite chapters is The Difference. "This chapter details how to honor and deal with each other's differences so that everyone gets a chance to express themselves in a way that is both comfortable and successful in achieving what they really want in the end," explained Cheri. "I also like The Setup because it reminds both sides how to bring up the idea of the Love List is a way that the other side would find appealing and worthwhile. It's also a chapter that is kind of funny." Developed over many years of coaching and counseling busy clients, Cheri's system will revolutionize how couples communicate about the myriad details of running a life together. In fact, she's proof that the system she writes about works. Her very own husband was the book's editor. "Not only is he an amazing writer and overall visionary, his contribution to the book was very valuable in making it cater equally to men and not just women like me," explained Cheri. "We were actually having to use the Love List system in order to finish the book. It was enlightening and validated that the system ultimately worked even for complex projects."
