Auth-Florence to Discontinue Rear Loading 4C Cluster Mailboxes

Effective January 2017, the rear loading 4C cluster mailbox will be discontinued by the leading manufacturer. What does this mean for apartment complexes and commercial buildings who need to replace existing rear loading mailbox applications?

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Nov. 12, 2016 - PRLog -- For over a decade, recessed multi-tenant mailboxes have fallen into two specific categories: either front loading or rear loading. But that is soon to change.

Effective January 3, 2017, Auth Florence will discontinue rear loading USPS 4C Mailboxes in favor of front loading mailboxes going forward.

What is the likely reason for this shift? While the front loading unit is much easier to access and deliver mail to, the rear loading multi-tenant mailbox requires a secure room behind the installation. The logistics of providing the USPS with access to such a room are often challenging and inconvenient, to say the least.

Still, the choice to discontinue these units raises some concerns as to how property managers will be able to replace their existing rear loading 4C applications in the future. Perhaps they will be forced to make the switch to front loading and repurpose the collection room behind the installed mailboxes. If such ends up being the case, mailbox suppliers will need to guide customers in finding the right front loading application that corresponds to their existing rear loading mailbox.
