By: District 83 Toastmasters Marjorie Nazaire, a Registered Nurse Care Manager for Optum,has been a member of Toastmasters International since February 23, 2016. In her speech, "What Grandma Ella Taught Me", she used some of her Haitian myths to create a story between a grandmother and a granddaughter. "All the contestants delivered top-notch speeches", said Nazaire. "When my name was called, I was deeply moved because it takes determination, time, and passion to prepare for competition. My colleagues at Impact 21 Toastmasters provided effective coaching and feedback to help me turn my fear of public speaking into strength." Nazaire is employed as Nurse Care Manager at Optum/United Healthcare and per diem case manager at St Joseph Medical Center, Paterson, NJ. She is a wife and the proud mother of two beautiful girls, one in grade school and the other in college. She earned her Masters degree in healthcare administration at Walden University, her Bachelor of Nursing at Kean University, and her Associate degree in Nursing from Muhlenberg School of Nursing. She initially started her career as a Licensed Nurse Practioner (earned from Somerset County Technical Institute). She is working toward completing her Competent Communicator and Competent Leader designations.
