"College of Business Administration faculty members are leaders in business teaching and research," said Deborah Spake, Ph.D., dean of the College of Business Administration. "Dr. Tietz's innovative approach to teaching accounting not only benefits students at Kent State, but also across the nation as other accounting educators share her work with their students." Tietz was also featured recently in an article titled "Get Students Hooked on Accounting" by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). The piece features her innovative use of technology and social media to make accounting more relatable to students. AICPA represents the CPA profession nationally regarding rule-making and standard-setting. It establishes accountancy as a profession distinguished by rigorous educational requirements, high professional standards, professional ethics and a commitment to serving the public interest. Tietz has been with Kent State University since 2000. She is a certified public accountant, a certified management accountant, a chartered global management accountant and a member of the American Accounting Association and the Institute of Management Accountants. She received a Ph.D. from Kent State University and MBA and bachelor's degrees from the University of Akron. She has worked in the accounting industry, both as a controller for a financial institution and as the operations manager and controller for a recycled plastics manufacturer.
