Storm gains 3 points and moves in to first place with win

Boscacci scores 3 while Perez gets 2 and Hernandez scores 1 in win
 
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Sept. 20, 2016 - PRLog -- It was a warm day with temperatures of 103 plus at game time with the turf another 15 degrees or so hotter.  Warm enough for a summer Storm to blow in and that was exactly what the visitors from the High Desert, the High Desert Rush ran in to at the Masters University.

The Santa Clarita Storm enters the game just 2 points from the first place FC Hasental. As the game started the Storm moved quickly to pressure the visitors right from the start. Midfielder Kris Hernandez received the ball in midfield and took off with a break away in just the first minute of the game. Hernandez attacked from the right side and shot but to the keeper.  Just two minutes later it was Storm Francisco Perez who received a pass from Hernandez and shot from the left side 20 yards out and on target but gathered up by the Rush keeper.

In the 16th minute it was Hernandez again with the ball carried it down towards the net on the far right side and shot a pass along the goal to the waiting striker Philip Boscacci who just simply pushed the ball to the back of the net for the early lead.

It didn't take Rush but 7 minutes to regroup and come back to capitalized on a defensive error that left an open space in front of the Storm net and Rush passed it up to the top of the 18-yard box and placed it in pass Storm keeper Saul Herrera to Knott the score up at one apiece.

Two minutes later in the 25th minute of play Storm's Brett Croft took control in mid field and launched a pass to the left midfielder Francisco Perez who took the ball weaving in and out of defenders shot and took the lead back. 2-1

From that point on the Storm grew more intense and started to pour down on the High Desert visitors and in the 36th min it was Kris Hernandez again who received a pass from Midfielder Daniel Llamas and began to break directly in to the Rush keeper and as the keeper came out Hernandez shot and right by the charging keeper to put the Storm up by 2.

Just 4 mins later in the 40th minute Storm assist leader Brett Croft again sees striker Philip Boscacci and crossed a pass to Boscacci who quickly collected his second goal of the day and croft picking up his second assist giving him 10 on the season the most assist in a single season by a Storm player since moving to Santa Clarita in 2011.

In the 44th minute just before the half time whistle Perez with a break away rushing the keeper took his shot and It found the back of the net and gave the Storm a 5-1 lead after just the first 45 minutes of play.

As the second half began, just two minutes in, a foul was called and Storm Brett Croft question the call and received a yellow card for descent. That was his second yellow on the afternoon and was sent off the pitch with a Red card.

Storm now playing with 10 men, the Rush began to apply pressure of their own creating several scoring chances but only to be turned away.  The half stayed even with scoring opportunities from both teams and in the 90th minute just as before the game ended Perez with the ball passed it up to striker Boscacci who before the last call of the game picked up his third on the day and a 6-1 victory for the Storm.

Next up the Storm travels to Alemany High School in North Hills to take on SFV Scorpions. The Scorpions with a 4-2-3 record is coming off a win in the first round of the U S Open Cup 2017 Qualifying. Storm will visit the Scorpions for a 4:30pm kick off.
