Farmers' Market Announces Upcoming Farm-to-Table Fundraising Event

CHATHAM, N.J. - Sept. 13, 2016 - PRLog -- The Farmers' Market (CBFM) announces the inaugural "Farm-to-Table: Top Chef," a fundraiser benefiting "MyChathamNJ – Keep Chatham Beautiful!" Sunday, September 18, 2016, Reasoner Park at Firehouse Plaza on Fairmount Avenue, Chatham, NJ; 4:30-7:30pm.

This culinary event will feature tastings of farmers' market fare, expertly prepared by local Chatham eateries, as well as a "Top Chef" presentation by Chatham's Restaurant Serenade co-owners, Chefs James and Nancy Laird. The event will also include wine and beer tastings, and a silent auction with items donated by local restaurants and businesses.

This year marks the 10^th season of the CBFM, as well as the 20^th Anniversary of Restaurant Serenade, both of which have become integral parts of the Chatham community. Chef Laird has frequented many farmers' markets since his restaurant opening in 1996, and mirrors the importance of the CBFM in the community. He states, "I would have to get up at 5 am and go into NYC because there weren't any local farmers' markets. Having the farmers' market in my town has made my restaurant better." Restaurant Serenade has partnered with the CBFM to celebrate the anniversary of both organizations, and to raise money to support the Chatham community through MyChathamNJ.

"MyChathamNJ is a volunteer organization that works to keep Chatham a beautiful place to live, work and play," says Chatham Borough Council member, Victoria Fife. "The group works on various projects each season to add a bit of fun, beauty, and spirit to our public spaces," she continues. "All projects are funded by the generosity of residents, businesses and grant opportunities so as not to impact our annual taxes."

The CBFM provides conventionally and organically grown Jersey Fresh fruits and vegetables to the local community and its neighbors.
