WARETOWN, N.J. - Sept. 6, 2016 - PRLog -- The closer we get to November 8th, the 2016 Presidential Election is creating more stress and apprehension for voters than any other election in American history.  However, according to Bill Clanton, CEO of Coloring for Life/Bill Clanton Books, if we continue down this path of stress and anxiety our risk for life threatening health conditions could increase.

"The effects of chronic stress can significantly alter our mental health which in turn manifests as physical disorders. To put it into perspective, stress can be blamed for triggering most of what the CDC reports as the leading causes of death in Americans.  Though, many stress sufferers don't even know the effect it has on their body, mind and attitude," Says Clanton.  The Mayo Clinic reports that stress that is left unchecked can contribute to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, obesity and diabetes.

Dr. Mark Hyman, health advisor for former President Bill Clinton and Democratic Nominee Hillary Clinton, warns that chronic stress creates hormonal havoc in the body.  When we are stressed the adrenal glands release hormones like adrenaline and cortisol that raise your heart rate, and increase your blood pressure keeping your body in a primitive "fight or flight" state.  "If you really knew what was happening to you when you are stressed, you would freak out.  It's not pretty," said Dr. Mark Hyman to the Third Metric Women's conference.

Despite the fears of what stress may do to our bodies, reversing and preventing it is less frightful.  To minimize the effects of election stress, sufferers can create a stress management strategy that includes some of the following:

·      Stay physically active (jogging, walking, sports etc)

·      Keep a good sense of humor, in fact learn to find the positives in life

·      Try relaxation techniques like yoga, tai chi, or even a massage

·      Consider a hobby like music, crafts, or as is the trend these days, start coloring Adult Coloring books

Of the 4 stress relief methods mentioned above, Adult Coloring has more recently become one of the most popular methods.  The marketplace is overflowing with coloring books for every taste and interest.  Adult Coloring Book Illustrator Bill Clanton says, "The stress of this election can be very scary, but taking the time to turn off the latest news reports and pick up a coloring book could save your life."  More information about the dangers of stress can be found through the Mayo Clinic and Dr. Mark Hyman (drhyman.com).
