AquaQ Analytics Use kdb+ To Help Circuitlink Drive Through Their Information Barriers

BELFAST, U.K. - Aug. 22, 2016 - PRLog -- AquaQ Analytics Ltd and Tapaas Pty Ltd are pleased to announce the successful build and rollout of their "Internet of Things" (IoT) timeseries database which powers the client facing applications of Circuitlink Pty Ltd, a provider of event data recorders to the transport industry.

The new database is built upon kdb+. It is a replacement for an existing MongoDB Telemetry database, and has proven to be faster, more flexible and more scalable, all at lower cost.

Tony Davis, CEO of Circuitlink commented:

"Circuitlink has been developing high resolution "black boxes", also known as Event Data Recorders, a product marketed as Tacholink, for trucks, buses and hybrid road rail fleets for almost 20 years.

The latest generation of the Tacholink black box, T5, has seen the introduction of a cloud based solution for their clients to easily access the deep and rich data collected. The first generation cloud solution used MongoDB and, for a variety of reasons, resulted in a complex and demanding database solution which ultimately became unstable and failed to scale when the number of vehicles began to build on the system and clients wanted to view large chunks of data.

The solution to these scaling issues was to adopt kdb+ in place of MongoDB. kdb+ is a database technology traditionally used by investment banks for market data capture and analysis. The project was managed by Tapaas and designed and built by AquaQ Analytics.

The result is a refreshingly agile database system which Circuitlink now has the confidence can grow to a huge scale without any significant redesign. The surprisingly simple yet powerful querying language of kdb+ has also allowed the total elimination of secondary query tables and provided a significant simplification of Intelligo, Circuitlink's web portal and client access point to the captured data.

Circuitlink are looking forward to continuing the strong working relationship with Tapaas and AquaQ Analytics as we extend the Intelligo feature set and mine the data for exciting and revealing customer insights".
