"So when I heard about the ketogenic diet from a colleague I was immediately intrigued," she wrote on the article. "This simply sounded too good to be true. Could I really eat fat and get lean? Enjoy peanut butter treats and squeeze into my skinny jeans?"

Lawrence said she decided to look into the diet to begin her six-week experimental ketogenic diet for herself.

The first day to a ketogenic diet is the requirement to eliminate all major carbohydrate sources, such as bread, pasta, sugary treats, fruits and grains – then beginning to intake more high-quality fat content. This is the time when the body enters into the ketosis phase, ABC further explained.

"It takes about five to six days to transition into ketosis, but once you do it's smooth sailing," Lawrence wrote. "Energy levels begin to rise and the keto flu is but a distant memory. I'm not going to lie, the keto plan takes a lot of prepping, planning and maths, so for the newbie, it is actually quite labor-intensive."

Throughout the course of her diet, she saw improvements in her weight as well as in ketone levels. When undergoing into such diets like this, it is important that you perform tests to your ketone level.
