Clever new 'Diet Eyeglasses' can track your eating habits by monitoring your chewing musclesBy: Kounopt.com With new emerging technologies, humans are designing some of the high tech gadgets that were considered a part of Sci – Fi movies. Today you not only use your eyewear for better vision, but now you can also use it for tracking your eating habits. Yes you read it right. Now you don't have to think before eating about your diet, this new gadget will do all work for you. It can help you to know more about what you eat, so that you can realize and maintain your diet plans. Researchers at Germany's University of Passau, have developed 'Diet Eyeglasses' that can sense chewing-related muscle activity in the head using in-built electromyography (EMG) electrodes integrated into the glasses' frames. The electrodes present in the glasses' frames can detect food chewing by analyzing signal bursts produced by muscle contractions. The results can reveal exactly when and how much food wearers are chowing down on. The gadget becomes more impressive using smart algorithms. The sensors can categorize which foods are being gobbled. "We derive features from the sensors' measurements and apply machine learning techniques to categorize the foods consumed," said by researcher Rui Zhang and Professor Oliver Amft tell Digital Trends.
