PBS Docu-Series 'TWICE BORN' Nominated for EMMY® Award

RALEIGH, N.C. - July 27, 2016 - PRLog -- The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has nominated TWICE BORN Stories From the Special Delivery Unit for the coveted Emmy^® Award at the 2016 News & Documentary Emmys. The three-part series was produced by Trailblazer Studios for PBS and has been nominated in the Outstanding Science and Technology Programming category.

Presenting stories that are both uplifting and heartbreaking from inside the world's leading fetal surgery center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), TWICE BORN follows a team of ground-breaking surgeons who perform revolutionary procedures on babies still in the womb.

Trailblazer Studios' production team was granted unprecedented access to the daily dramas that play out at CHOP's Special Delivery Unit during 15 months of filming. This is the first time in television history that cameras have been permitted inside a fetal operating room, making it the premier documentary of its kind.

This is not the first nomination for documentary veterans Producer/Director Monica Lange, who has won a Television Academy Honors Award for "Television with a Conscience," and Co-Producer/Editor Bonnie Cutler-Shear, who has won an editing Emmy and received several other nominations.

TWICE BORN has been met with critical acclaim for its powerful portrayal of four expectant families who are faced with life-changing decisions that will affect the fate of their unborn children.
