Ancient Aliens Star to Appear at South Texas UFOcon
The 5th Annual Edinburg UFO Conference in South Texas is expected to draw hundreds to meet the star of "Ancient Aliens" and other celebrities. Speakers will include David Childress, Ben Hansen, Nick Redfern, Dr. Lynne Kitei, and others.
Keynote speaker David Childress is known to his fans as "the real-life Indiana Jones." A captivating speaker and the author of over twenty books, David has traveled the world several times over, seeking adventure and the answers to the mysteries of mankind's past. His theories about ancient civilizations being contacted by extraterrestrials have become extremely popular in the past few years, and he has appeared on countless TV shows and at numerous conferences. He is best known for his frequent appearances on the History Channel's Ancient Aliens series. His latest book, The Ark of God, discusses the amazing device known as the Ark of the Covenant. At the Edinburg conference, Childress will speak on the latest discoveries in his search for evidence of "Ancient Aliens." This will be Childress' first ever appearance in South Texas, and he will be available to meet with his fans on the day of the conference as well as at the free "UFO Festival" to be held on Friday, August 12, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Edinburg City Hall Courtyard.
Also appearing is Ben Hansen of TV's Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files and UFOs Declassified. A former special agent with the FBI, Hansen's role on Paranormal Files is to lead a team of five investigators who travel the world looking for answers to paranormal mysteries including UFO encounters. In Edinburg, Hansen will speak on "UFOs and the U.S. Presidents,"
Another speaker is Dr. Lynne Kitei, who will discuss the latest information from her years of research into a strange phenomenon known as the "Phoenix Lights." Many people still vividly remember the remarkable events that took place in March of 1997, when the night skies over Phoenix, Arizona, lit up with a huge fleet of brightly glowing UFOs. Many observers called it the most significant mass UFO sighting of our time. Despite many "official" attempts to debunk it, it remains an amazing mystery to this day, and Dr. Kitei has been right in the middle of the strange case since 1997, when she witnessed the lights for the first time. She is now recognized as the world's leading authority on the Phoenix Lights. In addition to her lecture about the Lights, Dr. Kitei will also screen her award-winning documentary, presented with her comments before and after.
Also speaking at the Edinburg Conference is paranormal researcher Nick Redfern, a native of the United Kingdom and well-known UFO researcher in both Europe and the United States. A prolific writer, Redfern is an acknowledged expert on the topic of the mysterious "Men in Black," who often appear to witnesses after a UFO sighting and persuade them to keep mum about what they saw. Redfern will deliver a presentation called "The Real Men in Black," highlighting stories of some of the most horrific encounters between UFO witnesses and these mysterious black-clothed entities.
Completing the roster of speakers are South Texas UFO researchers Noe Torres and Stephen Andrasko, who have been involved in the Edinburg UFO Conference since the first one was held in 2012. Torres and Andrasko will speak about one of the state of Texas' most interesting UFO cases, known as the "Aurora Incident." Early on the morning on April 17, 1897, a strange metallic object crashed and went to pieces over the small Texas town of Aurora. A creature described in the Dallas Morning News as "not an inhabitant of this world" was found in the wreckage. The strange being was buried in the town cemetery, where he still is buried today. Torres and Andrasko were recently invited by the City of Aurora, Texas, to appear at Aurora's first annual UFO Festival to commemorate the 1897 event. Torres has done extensive research into the case, having included it in his recent book, Real Cowboys & Aliens: UFO Encounters of the Old West.
In addition to the UFO guest speakers on Saturday, August 13, the weekend's activities will also feature a "UFO Festival" on Friday night that is free and open to the public and will be held at the Edinburg City Hall Courtyard, 415 W. University Drive, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. In addition to family-friendly activities and entertainment, the Festival will provide an opportunity for the public to meet, greet, and obtains autographs and photos from all of the speakers and authors, including David Childress, Ben Hansen, Dr. Lynne Kitei, Nick Redfern, Noe Torres, and Stephen Andrasko. The speakers will also have copies of their books available for sale.
